New Jersey CyberKnife Commemorates Three Years of Service
July marks an important milestone at New Jersey CyberKnife as we complete three years of service at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Since opening in 2011, our center’s experienced physicians and staff have treated more than 460 patients from Ocean County and neighboring communities using advanced CyberKnife® technology.
With more than 20 years of experience each, our radiation therapists and physicists work diligently with our physicians to provide the best treatment outcomes by following clinical protocols and engaging in research.
New Jersey CyberKnife physicians are part of a group of cancer specialists around the U.S. that have analyzed patient data collected through the RSSearch Registry. The group has confirmed cancer centers participating in the registry are following established guidelines for stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT).
In their study, New Jersey CyberKnife Medical Director Dr. David D’Ambrosio and other researchers examined 464 men with prostate cancer who were treated with SBRT between 2006 and 2013 at a total of 33 U.S. cancer centers that take part in providing data for the RSSearch Registry. Learn more about the study and the group’s findings here.
Clinical research is an important part of our work at New Jersey CyberKnife. In collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh, our center is currently managing a clinical trial to analyze SBRT for prostate cancer patients. We also have open clinical trials for lung cancer, brain metastasis and other tumor sites. Learn more about our clinical trials here.
Over the past year, we have also expanded our brain and spine tumor treatment expertise with the addition of Dr. John Lipani to our team of clinical experts. A board-certified neurosurgeon, Dr. Lipani has treated more than 3,500 brain and spinal tumor patients with CyberKnife technology. He is a nationally recognized specialist in the field of brain and spine stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS).
We are proud members of the cancer care community and love hearing from and sharing the stories of patients whose lives we’ve touched. Read testimonials from some of our former patients here. Head and neck tumors, lung tumors and prostate cancer are our center’s most frequently treated diseases.
